SP9 Questionnaire

~~~My SP9 Pal has been waiting for these answers patiently~~~

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

I like most fibers. I prefer soft over rough yarns. I'm not sure I have a favorite yarn, but my Clapotis, made with Brooks Farm Four Play, was a pleasure to knit up due to the texture of the yarn.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

Currently, my needles & hooks are stored like this.

Appalling, isn't it? The coupon file holds my circulars. The M&M mini tubes have my metal crochet hooks. The "gummy" tube contains my DPNs, and the box on the right contains my straight needles and other toothbrush tubes to hold my plastic crochet hooks. Like they say, "The cobbler's children have no shoes." I really ought to sew some needle/hook rolls for myself. I just haven't found the perfect fabric yet.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I've been knitting forever, it seems like, but only seriously in the past 3 years. My mother taught me to crochet at a young age, but I taught myself to knit from books. I would call myself an intermediate to advanced knitter.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

I have an Amazon wishlist.

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.)

Mango, peach, satsuma, passionfruit, pikake, jasmine... I'm drawn more to tart & fruity over sweet & flowery scents.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

My favorite treats are Haribo Brand Gummi Bears, Pocky, White Chocolate, and Milk Chocolate.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

Looking at my craft supplies, it's evident that I'm a fickle crafter. Other than the obvious knitting & crochet, I enjoy scrapbooking, sewing, stamping, origami, spinning, cross-stitch, and punch needle embroidery.

Lately, I've been spinning up a storm on my drop spindle and for my spinning wheel class.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

I like all sorts of music as noted in my previous SP answers. I own an iPod mini.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?

Purples, blues, pinks & greens are good bets. I usually go for earthy tones rather than pastels or neons. I usually shy away from yellows due to my sallow skintone.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I'm married to a wonderful man. We have two dogs, Bear and WishBone, and a fishtank.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

I'll wear a scarf, if it gets cold enough, but seldomly wear hats, mittens, or ponchos.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

I'll have to say that socks, shawls and sweaters are my favorite items to knit.

13. What are you knitting right now?

I have too many WIPs. I have some socks, two shawls, and a sweater, just to name a few off the top of my head.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

Handmade gifts, when well executed, are always a pleasure to receive and appreciated.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

I prefer circular needles. My Denise set and Addi Turbos are what I use for sizes > 6. For lacework and socks, I prefer to use my Inox greys. I've heard nice things about the new KnitPicks needles, but don't own any yet.

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

Yes and yes.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?

I have no idea.

18. What is your favorite holiday?

Christmas.

19. Is there anything that you collect?

Other than yarn & fiber? Pez dispensers, Beanie Babies, Sanrio (Hello Kitty) items.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

I've been coveting the pattern for the Peacock Feathers shawl and any of the books on my Amazon wishlist. I don't currently subscribe to any knitting magazines.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

I haven't done much colorwork (Intarsia or Fair isle) and would love to expand my skills there.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Yes, I am a sock knitter. I am a size 7 (US).
9inches long, 8in around the ball, 9 inches around ankle.

23. When is your birthday? (mm/dd)

November 28th
